5 Journal Types: Which Will You Pick?

Journals and diaries have innumerable therapeutic and psychological benefits. Click here for more information! Journals, however, are better for those of you who may not be able to find time to write everyday. You may have trouble deciding what to write about, and that is exactly what this post will help you with! Journals don't necessarily need to be about anything specific, but you may enjoy
journaling more if you focus your energies on one topic.  So, sit back, relax, and try to see which one of these appeals to you the most.

1. The Pocket Journal

This is perfect when you get a sudden rush of ideas and need a place to note them down. A pocket journal is a tiny notebook that fits into your pocket (as the name suggests) and can be carried everywhere! It can be used for absolutely anything and everything. For example, if you're about to fall asleep and you get a sudden brainwave for your pending assignment, just reach out for your journal and scribble it down. Since pocket journals are small, they can't be used for detailed descriptions, but they are useful for keeping a track of abrupt ideas and thoughts.

2. The Emails I Can't Send Journal (yes, like the Sabrina Carpenter album!)

This type of journal is a form of therapy in itself and is also my personal favorite! It basically involves writing emails to yourself, that can later be used to reflect on your past life. Emails don't always have to be written to others, and your emails I can't send journal can be used to write emails to your 10-year-old self or to the future you. These can be shared with others or can remain private- it's your call. Even if you choose not to share them, writing emails (or letters) helps promote self-reflection and enables you to flourish.

3. The Travel Journal

Can you imagine going to a gorgeous, picturesque place without taking millions of pictures and uploading them to your Instagram page? Well, for your next holiday why not try something different? Something a little more vintage perhaps? Don't you think there's something unique in writing about your firsthand impressions of a place and preserving the lifelong memories that you created? Imagine yourself ten years down the line, showing your kids all the pretty pictures, you took on your trip. I know everything can be done online, but in a fast-paced, technology- based world, wouldn't you like to hold on to a sliver of your past? Travel journals can even include pictures, which makes them all the more aesthetic! And the best part is, you don't have to follow any rules or worry about neatness. Just write about all the memories and experiences that you cherish the most.

4. The Gratitude Journal

I know a gratitude journal sounds like something straight out of Pollyanna, but if you dig deeper, you'll find positives and benefits bursting at the brim. This journal helps you become more empathetic, which improves all aspects of your life. It's also for those of you who's like to maintain a journal, but just can't manage to squeeze in the time for comprehensive details. Even when you're going through a rough patch, this journal can help you maintain a positive mindset and distract your mind from stress and work. The main objective of this journal is to stimulate an optimistic environment, so try to keep the tone of the content lively and animated!

5. The Brain Dump Journal

This is the exact opposite of a gratitude journal. Brain dump journals are great for venting your anger, stressful days, bad moments and negative energy and thoughts in general. And trust me, sharing your sorrows with someone- or something, definitely helps takes a load off your heart. So, if you're going through any rough moments or feel like you have plenty of pent-up frustration inside you, this is a perfect solution.

I hope you find something that appeals to your tastes here!
