Anne Of Green Gables By Lucy Maud Montgomery

Anne Of Green Gables By Lucy Maud Montgomery

A poignant story about a vivacious, irrepressible girl with vivid red hair who just can’t help her many escapades!

When Matthew Cuthbert arrives at the train station, he is astonished! He and his sister Marilla had decided to adopt a boy, but instead he receives a little girl. Marilla is shocked and arranges for Anne to find another home. As Marilla takes Anne to her friend’s house, she learns a bit about Anne Shirley’s past. She decides to adopt Anne, who is thrilled to finally have a proper home; Green Gables which is the home of Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. Anne is a very talkative, imaginative girl with a fiery temper! She loves reciting poems and wins many competitions. Anne has flaming red hair which she dislikes; she wishes to have black curls just like her best friend Diana. Anne has a very impulsive, ebullient character which leads to a few problems later. She likes studying and gets an honourable award when she goes to a famous college, called The Queens. Her relatives are very proud of her, especially Marilla! At the end of this dramatic book, Anne befriends her enemy and they decide that it is better to work together instead of against each other.

This is a classic children’s book with evocative language and beautiful monochrome illustrations and narrates the coming-of-age tale of a girl who will stay with you long after you have finished the book.
