How to remain happy in 5 easy steps

Staying happy is a major challenge for many of us. I myself find it quite difficult to stay happy at times, as I feel too overwhelmed and stressed. All I feel like doing is curling into a ball and lying on the floor. So if you've ever experienced this too, then you've come to the right place, as I've found some foolproof ways to remain happy as often as possible.

1) Positive affirmations and gratefulness

Try to recall all the things that you're grateful for in life, and if you have a hard time remembering these, you can even make a list to help you. Don't indulge in negative self-talk as self- validation is one of the most important aspects of happiness. Instead of relying on others, remember three things that you love about yourself every day, and you will soon find your happiness quotient rising.

2) Get enough sleep

Getting enough sleep every day is absolutely essential to be happy. You should get at least 7 to 8 hours of good quality, peaceful sleep every night. Try not to use devices at least 1-2 hours before sleeping. Instead try doing something more productive like reading or writing, as this helps in soothing the mind before drifting off to sleep.

3) Exercise regularly

Try to exercise at least thrice a week as this is directly associated with an increase in happiness and overall well-being. When we exercise, endorphins and other happiness-increasing chemicals are released, which leads to an overall higher feeling of joy. In addition, exercise leads to improved physical health and higher self-esteem.

4) Meditate when stressed

Meditation is a great way to deal with feelings such as anxiousness and uneasiness. It can help to cope with stressful situations as it calms the brain and allows us to think of solutions clearly. Meditation should be done in a peaceful and quiet place with no disturbances, while concentrating all your energy on the pattern of your breathing.

5) Eat healthy

Eating healthier and avoiding junk food is one great way to thrive and maintain a happier lifestyle. Try to avoid stress eating to the extent possible, as it only results in poorer health and feelings of remorse and guilt later on. Instead focus on foods such as fruits and vegetables that have high nutritional value.

I hope this helps you to maintain a happier lifestyle in the future. These methods are tried and tested and have produces marvelous effects in the past.
